Electrolysis is still the only method of permanent hair removal recognised by the British Medical Association. A probe is inserted into the hair follicle and a small current is then passed into the follicle, this causes a localised response which stops the blood supply to the hair follicle and subsequently the hair can be removed. Electrolysis can also benefit a number of other cosmetic skin complaints. A course of treatments will be necessary to permanently remove hair as the hair treated has to be in growth phase for electrolysis to work effectively.
